June is the Gulf coast's quiet triumph: largely dry, pleasantly warm, wonderfully empty — and some of the best hotel value of the year.

June is one of Thailand's most underrated months — provided you stand on the right shore. The Andaman coast is deep in its monsoon by now, with Phuket and Krabi seeing regular rain and grey seas. The Gulf coast, meanwhile, carries on much as before: long dry days, calm water, and beaches from Hua Hin to Koh Tao with hardly a footprint on them.
It's also the value sweet spot. High-season crowds are months away in either direction, so small resorts along the Ban Krut and Chumphon coast drop their rates, and even Koh Samui feels unhurried. If you want warm sea, green scenery and change from your holiday budget, June is quietly hard to beat.

Gulf coast: largely dry, warm and settled — around 30–33°C with sea breezes, calm swimming water and only occasional brief showers, usually in the evening. This holds all the way down the coast: Hua Hin, Ban Krut, Chumphon, and out to Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. Andaman coast: wet, with frequent rain and seas rough enough that some island boat trips stop running.
Bangkok sees hot days broken by afternoon downpours — dramatic but short. The north is in its green season: Chiang Mai's countryside is lush, waterfalls are filling, and the light after rain is beautiful, though you'll want flexible plans for trekking.

This is the month for the unhurried Gulf coast: cycle the coastal lanes around Ban Krut, swim off Thung Wua Laen near Chumphon, and eat grilled seafood at beachfront tables that would need booking in January. On the islands, Koh Tao's dive visibility remains excellent, and Koh Phangan's east-coast bays are at their calm, empty best.
June is also a fine month for doing very little, well. Massage pavilions, long seafood lunches, an afternoon storm watched from a veranda — the green season has a rhythm of its own, and with low-season prices you can afford the beachfront room to enjoy it from.

Yes — on the Gulf coast. Ban Krut, Hua Hin, Chumphon, Koh Samui and Koh Tao are largely dry, quiet and good value in June, while the Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi) is in full monsoon.
Not much. Koh Samui and its neighbours sit on the Gulf side, so June brings mostly sunny days with only occasional brief showers. The heavy rain there comes much later, in October and November.
Generally yes. June is low season, so hotels on the Gulf coast and islands offer some of their best rates of the year, and beaches and restaurants are refreshingly uncrowded.
Not necessarily avoid, but be honest with yourself: expect regular rain, rough seas and red flags on some beaches. For reliable beach weather in June, the Gulf coast is the smarter choice.
