Scooter & rental in Ban Krut

One of the best things you can do in Ban Krut is rent a vehicle and explore. The coast road runs for roughly 20 km in total, passing through fishing villages, estuaries, coconut farms and empty beaches. Morning rides are especially scenic and peaceful before the heat builds up.

Scooter at Ban Krut beach

Bicycles — from 100 baht/day

The most relaxed option. Usually available from your guesthouse or a small shop near the beach. From Ban Krut Beach to Bo Thong Lang Bay is a good 18 km — a long but doable ride in cooler morning temperatures. For shorter explorations around the village and local beaches, a bicycle is ideal.

Scooters

Available from most guesthouses and a few local hire shops. Before riding, photograph or video any pre-existing scratches. Check brakes, lights, horn and tyre pressure. Only ride if you are licensed and confident — Ban Krut roads are generally quiet but sand on corners and animals crossing are real hazards.

Car rental

Cars are rarely rented directly in Ban Krut. Most people hire from Bangkok or Hua Hin and drive down, making Ban Krut a stop on a longer coastal road trip. Private taxi transfers can be arranged through your hotel for trips to Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon or ferry piers.

Road safety

Staying safe

  • Thailand drives on the left — keep this in mind constantly, especially at junctions.
  • Always wear a helmet, even on very short rides.
  • Avoid riding after dark or in heavy rain on unfamiliar roads.
  • Watch for sand on bends, particularly near the beach.
  • Animals (dogs, cows) often cross the road — slow down in villages.
  • Verify your travel insurance covers scooter rental before you ride.
The coast road north of Ban Krut to empty beaches is especially attractive for cycling and motorcycling. Bang Saphan, 20 km south, is a pleasant drive, and Prachuap Khiri Khan, the pretty provincial capital, is about one hour north.
