Getting to Ban Krut

Ban Krut is located about 380 kilometres south of Bangkok and approximately 40 km south of Prachuap Khiri Khan. There is no nearby airport — you arrive by train, bus, minivan or car. The train is generally the easiest and most recommended option because Ban Krut has its own station right in the town, just 1 km from the beach.

Thai train by the sea

By train — the most convenient option

Ban Krut station is on Thailand's Southern Railway Line. Only 3 trains per day stop at Ban Krut, so book in advance (especially 1st and 2nd class). From Bangkok Hua Lamphong or Bangkok Thonburi the journey takes approximately 7 hours. Motorcycle taxis meet arriving trains at the station and can take you directly to your hotel.

Train journey southern Thailand

By bus

From Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai), take a Bangkok–Bang Saphan Noi bus and ask to be let off at the Ban Krut intersection. From there you need a motorcycle taxi (about 10 km) or pre-arranged hotel transfer. On the way back, a 12:30 PM bus to Bangkok stops at Ban Krut market.

By car

Take Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road) south. At km marker 382, turn towards Ban Krut (about 400 m to Front Road, then left/east for approximately 9 km, crossing the railway track to reach Ban Krut Beach Road). The trip is approximately 10 km from the main highway to the beach. From the north, Google Maps will take you right past Wat Ang Thong on the AH2.

Arrival tips

When you get there

  • Arrive in daylight — easier to navigate and arrange transfer from station.
  • Tell your hotel your train number so they can arrange pickup or give directions.
  • Only 3 trains per day stop at Ban Krut — check the timetable carefully before booking.
  • Keep small cash on you for motorcycle taxi from the station (roughly 50-80 baht).
